Our Story: A Journey from Palmereo, Sicily to Saint Louis, Missouri
Our Story: A Journey from Palmereo, Sicily to Saint Louis, Missouri
In the sun-drenched hills of Palmereo, Sicily, where the air is fragrant with olive trees and the Mediterranean Sea shimmers in the distance, our family story began. It was in this picturesque village that Nonna Maria first mastered the art of making pizza, using a family recipe handed down through generations. Each pizza was a labor of love, crafted with the freshest ingredients and baked to perfection in a wood-fired oven.
The winds of change blew across the Atlantic, carrying our family to the bustling streets of New York City. In the early 1900s, our great-grandparents, Maddio and Giatana, arrived with dreams as vibrant as the city itself. Amidst the chaos of immigrant life, they opened a small pizzeria in the heart of Little Italy. Here, they introduced New Yorkers to the authentic flavors of Sicily, and their pizzeria quickly became a beloved neighborhood fixture.
But the journey did not end in New York. In search of new opportunities and a quieter life, our grandparents, Giovanni and Sofia, moved to the Hill in Saint Louis, Missouri. Known for its rich Italian heritage, the Hill welcomed them with open arms. It was here that they opened their own pizzeria, infusing the community with the same passion and dedication that had marked their forebears’ ventures.
Over the years, our pizzeria has grown, but the heart of our story remains unchanged. Each pizza we serve is a testament to our family's journey and a tribute to the traditions of our Sicilian ancestors. From the fertile fields of Palmereo to the urban sprawl of New York and the close-knit community of the Hill, our pizzas carry the essence of home, love, and the enduring spirit of our family.
Join us in celebrating this legacy with every bite, as we continue to honor the past while embracing the future. Welcome to our family, welcome to our story.
